DANIELLE PANABAKER (Layla) was most recently seen in HBO’s miniseries “Empire Falls” opposite Paul Newman, Ed Harris and Helen Hunt.  USA Today called her an “angelic adolescent” who gives “a terrific performance” in the film, which was based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name, and just nominated for 10 Emmy Awards. Panabaker herself is the recipient of the 2005 Young Artist Award for Best Performance by a Leading Young Actress in a TV movie, miniseries or special for her role in ABC Family’s “Searching for David’s Heart”. She is a repeat winner, as last year she took home the 2004 Young Artist Award for Best Performance by a Guest Starring Young Actress in a Television Series, for her portrayal of a blind victim on “The Guardian”.

Panabaker also starred in the telefilms “Mom at Sixteen” and the Disney Channel Original Film “Stuck in the Suburbs”. Other television credits include “Law & Order:SVU”, “CSI”, “Malcolm in the Middle”, and a recurring role on “Summerland” opposite her real-life sister, Kay.

Extraordinarily focused, Danielle completed her high school education early, graduating as valedictorian at age 14. She enrolled in college classes the same year and has completed her Associate’s Degree, managing to juggle work while earning grades that secured her a spot on the National Dean’s List. She will enter UCLA this fall as a 17 year old Junior.

My sister and I started performing with a local community theater, which usually did plays geared toward children like Pinocchio and Winnie the Pooh.

Of all projects you’ve worked on to date, what was your favorite?  Why?    I loved being a part of
Empire Falls, because I worked with an amazing group of talented people - both cast and crew, and Maine was beautiful and I enjoyed getting to know the local people.  Working on Sky High was also a blast because I adored everyone who was a part of that project, and we always had a lot of fun on set.

My mother, because she makes it possible for me to pursue my dreams.

What type of work do you like the most (commercials, stage, television, movies)?
I enjoy doing guest stars on television because I get the opportunity to work with a large variety of people, however, movies are a great opportunity for me to tell a story and fully develop a character.

If you have a dramatic scene where you have to cry, how do you get ready for it and do it?
I give the character a history
and a full life; this way the tears come naturally for the character in whatever situation calls for tears. Also, sometimes a certain song will help me feel emotions that evoke tears.
